What happens during a hormone consultation?
We will discuss your symptoms, your daily routine, and possible connections to hormonal changes in detail. After taking a blood sample at the practice, a specialized laboratory will analyze your hormone levels. Based on these results, we will discuss them together—objectively, empathetically, and with medical expertise.
Which hormones are tested?
Typically: testosterone (total & free), SHBG, LH, FSH, estradiol, DHEA, cortisol, vitamin D if necessary, TSH, and other values—depending on the issue at hand. The selection is made individually based on medical assessment.
How much does the hormone consultation cost?
Billing is based on the German Scale of Medical Fees (GOÄ). The costs for the medical consultation, blood sampling, and laboratory diagnostics are billed directly by our practice. You will receive a transparent, comprehensible invoice.
Can I get testosterone therapy from you?
Only if it is medically indicated and appropriate. The decision is made based on your symptoms, your values, and a detailed consultation. We do not use "lifestyle therapies"—instead, we support men for whom hormone treatment is medically justified.
Are the costs covered by health insurance?
Hormone consultations are a self-pay service. Statutory health insurance companies do not usually cover the costs.

At schön skincare Hamburg, we take the blood sample directly in our practice. The analysis is carried out by a specialized laboratory in Hamburg. Depending on the issue, the following are examined:
- Total and free testosterone
- sex hormone-binding globulin
- LH, FSH
- DHEA, estradiol
- cortisol
- TSH, fT3/fT4 if necessary
- Vitamin D, ferritin, and other markers
The entire service—including laboratory analysis—is billed directly through our practice in accordance with GOÄ. You will receive a transparent invoice listing all items.
We will then discuss the results with you in person. We will explain what they mean—and what they do not mean. And we will work with you to determine whether medically sound therapy is appropriate and desirable.
Testosterone therapy – only with responsibility
If your symptoms and lab results together indicate a testosterone deficiency that requires treatment, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) may be advisable. This is always carried out under medical supervision and with individual dose adjustment.
Forms of application include injections or transdermal gels. The medication is prescribed privately and supplemented by regular follow-up checks.
We do not offer blanket or purely aesthetic treatments. We do not treat laboratory values, we treat people.
