Hyaluronic acid in Hamburg
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that occurs naturally throughout our body. It acts as a “skin cushion” and gives the skin a firm, supple appearance. Hyaluronic acid has a high water-binding capacity and keeps the tissue moist, elastic and youthful. As we get older our body unfortunately produces less hyaluronic acid and we begin to lose our youthful full appearance. At the age of 40, the body has lost 50% of its original amount of hyaluronic acid. Wrinkles appear, the shape and contours change and with them the harmony of the face.
What are the advantages of hyaluronic acid over other fillers?
Because hyaluronic acid is an endogenous substance, it is 100% degradable. This is a significant advantage. There is therefore an extremely low risk of serious side effects such as allergies, hypersensitivity reactions, or rejections and encapsulation in the tissue. Another advantage is that hyaluronic acid can be dissolved at any time. This is done by injecting hyaluronidase, which splits the filler into smaller components that can then be absorbed by the body and then broken down.
Is the injection of hyaluronic acid painful?
Due to the extremely fine needles (considerably thinner than the cannula used for blood collection), most patients find the injection ‘well tolerated’, even if there are individual differences in pain sensitivity. In some cases, a local anaesthetic (anaesthetic cream) can be applied before the treatment.
Furthermore, a small amount of local anaesthetic is added to the hyaluronic acid gel in the syringe which numbs the injected area for a short time.
What are the side effects of hyaluronic acid injections?
Just like Botox injections, anti-wrinkle treatment with fillers is one of the minimally invasive methods of wrinkle reduction, which is usually associated with low risks and few complications especially when it is carried out by an experienced medical professional. Allergies and intolerance reactions are usually ruled out, as natural substances are used in wrinkle treatment with dermal fillers. Minor complaints such as redness, swelling or itching generally last only for a short time. Haematomas and sensitivity disorders occur very rarely. However, these reactions are extremely rare and generally subside after a few days. Arnica globules or cream support the healing process. The hyaluronic acid injection is an easy, minimally invasive procedure after which one is generally immediately socially presentable again.
In case of severe allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding no hyaluronic acid treatments should be carried out.
Where do you inject hyaluronic acid?
With the help of hyaluronic acid injections not only wrinkles can be reduced also volume deficits in the face can be corrected. All of this should be without altering your natural appearance. Internationally renowned and recognized treatments such as Facial Harmonization and 8 point lifting (MD Codes™ created by Dr. Maurício de Maio) are included here.
Some areas of application of hyaluronic acid are:
- Maintenance of the skin’s elasticity and firmness
- Crow’s Feet
- Wrinkles
- Mouth Folds
- Nasolabial folds (between the nostril and the corner of the mouth)
- Volume build-up and contouring
How do you prepare for fillers injections in Hamburg?
As a rule, no special measures need to be taken before dermal fillers treatment. An essential part of the treatment is the personal consultation, during it the experienced doctor will rule out possible contraindications. Avoid taking blood thinning drugs (e.g. aspirin, arnica, vitamins C and E, omega-3 capsules) or anticoagulants (e.g. Marcumar, heparin) at least 5 days before treatment. Otherwise, the injection may cause bruises. However, if hematomas do occur, they usually subside after 5-10 days. Immediately before the injection, the respective areas are disinfected and, if desired, an anesthetic cream can make the area less sensitive to pain.
How long does the result of a hyaluronic acid treatment last?
The duration of action depends on several factors. The product quality and the cross-linking of the injected hyaluronic acid is an essential factor. Strongly pronounced wrinkles require a higher cross-linking than slight wrinkles. Higher crosslinked products usually degrade somewhat more slowly than the less crosslinked products for fine lines and wrinkles. Other factors are metabolic disorders, stress, sports, sauna and everything that drives the metabolism. Most patients opt for a refresher treatment after 6-12 months.
What do I have to consider after a treatment with hyaluronic acid?
After the anti-wrinkle injections with hyaluronic acid, you can usually leave our practice immediately and go back to your daily activities without further restrictions. However, important appointments should not be scheduled on the same day, as the injection areas may still be red and swollen immediately after the treatment. Within a short period of time, most of the redness or possible swelling will subside on their own. You can treat swelling sporadically with cool water or cooling pad, it can additionally support the healing process. Make-up should not be applied in the first twelve hours after injections. In addition, you should avoid direct sun exposure, solarium and sauna for 1-2 weeks. In summer, a high sun protection factor of 50 SPF is recommended for the treated areas. Avoid exercise for 2 days after treatment. After most injections you are immediately socially presentable.
