Thread lift in Hamburg
What is a thread lift?
Thread lifting is a comparatively new method of wrinkle treatment and face lifting, although the origin of the principle of “lifting with threads” goes back a long way in history. The ancient Egyptians are said to have used the procedure with gold threads and even Cleopatra is said to have rejuvenated her face in this way. Nowadays, absorbable threads are used, which the body can break down again. This makes the thread lift very gentle and usually well tolerated. Using a special technique, the sutures are brought under the skin and stabilise the tissue there. In addition, the body’s own collagen production is stimulated, resulting in a tightening and rejuvenation of the face, even after the sutures have already been absorbed.
Non-surgical face lift
Over time, the body’s own production of collagen and elastic fibres decreases more and more. As a result, the elasticity of the skin decreases and wrinkles form. In addition, individual parts of the face may lose volume or sag slightly. If this makes your face look older to you and you feel less comfortable in your skin, a thread lift in Hamburg can be a suitable treatment method. This is a lifting without surgery, which lifts your facial regions and tightens the skin. In our practice in Hamburg, we adapt the procedure to you in such a way that your characteristic facial features are not lost, but your natural beauty is emphasised. The aim of a thread lift is a harmonious rejuvenation of the face, without artificial or mask-like effects.
Is a thread lift for me?
Among the typical reasons why women and men are interested in a lift are the natural ageing process and its visible consequences. If wrinkles bother you, they can be effectively smoothed out with a thread lift in Hamburg without the need for an operation. Often, over time, the cheeks also sag somewhat or the chin line is no longer as harmoniously defined as it once was. This can also be corrected and contoured with a thread lift. As thread lifting is a minimally invasive treatment method, it cannot completely replace a classic surgical facelift. If there is a lot of excess tissue, a surgical procedure is usually necessary to achieve the desired result.
Before the thread lifting treatment: the individual consultation
Before the thread lift is carried out in Hamburg, Peter Tuguntke, our experienced expert for non-surgical anti-aging methods, will discuss the treatment with you in detail. The first step is to determine which features of your face you find disharmonious or disturbs you. Then the specialist will examine whether a thread lift is the appropriate method for you to fulfil your expectations. After you have been informed in detail and honestly about the procedure, the aftercare and the possible risks, you will have time to review all the important details and decide in peace and quiet for or against a lift without surgery.
How does thread lift work?
The threads with the small cones are inserted under the skin to lift the flaccid skin and to achieve a firmer, younger appearance. After the treatment, the threads gradually anchor in your tissue and stimulate the body’s own collagen production, creating a smooth, shapely appearance that looks completely natural.
Thread lift procedure
The thread lift is an outpatient procedure and takes about one hour, depending on the extent of the procedure and the number of threads. In advance, the doctor will mark on your skin the previously determined treatment areas. Once the local anaesthetic has taken effect, the doctor inserts the sutures into the tissue. No incisions are necessary, just small punctures, which are used to insert the threads under the skin with a fine needle. The threads are fixed in the tissue with light movements and massages. The doctor tightens the threads with individually strong pulls and thus tightens the face until the desired result is achieved. Once the threads are in their intended positions, the doctor removes the needles. You can leave our practice after this.
Before & After with Aptos
What are the threads made of?
In our practice we use APTOS threads for thread lifting. They are made of both non-absorbable (polypropylene) and absorbable (poly-L-lactic acid + caprolactone) material. Polypropylene threads are used in surgery for more than 50 years. Polylactic threads are composed of fully absorbable, non-allergic material used in medicine for many years. Once the threads are absorbed they are broken down by the body without leaving any residue.
Is a thread lift painful?
Thread lifting procedures are minimally invasive, but not completely painless. Although it is one of the most minimally invasive procedures available on the market today, patients sometimes experience bruising, swelling and pain after surgery. Our medical practitioner will apply a local anaesthetic to numb the treatment area and prevent pain.
Targeted areas for a non-surgical face lift
APTOS threads are tailor-made treatments for skin laxity. In principle, it can be applied to the face, neck and some body areas. Lifting without surgery is particularly suitable for the correction of so-called drooping cheeks, i.e. for lifting the cheek region.
The ideal candidates for thread lifters are people with minimal signs of age who only need a small lift. As a rule, these are women and men between 30 and 55 years of age.
The following applications are also possible:
- Contouring of the chin line
- Lifting the eyebrows
- Lifting of the middle part of the face
- general contouring of the face
- Tightening of the neck region
Advantages of a thread lift treatment
- Minimally invasive treatment (no surgery)
- Local anaesthesia
- Comparatively short treatment duration
- Absorbable material
- Natural looking results
- Long lasting effect
- Low pain and low risk
- No scars
- Low rest/down time
- Comparatively low costs
- Can be repeated and individually adjusted on request
How long does the effect of thread lift last?
The tightening effect of thread lifting is usually immediately visible. In addition, the threads stimulate the body’s own collagen synthesis, which strengthens the rejuvenating effect and lasts longer. The body breaks down the inserted threads within nine to twelve months. The collagen produced maintains the rejuvenating effect of the thread lift for up to 18 months. The exact duration of the effect can vary slightly from patient to patient.
What should you consider before the thread lift?
In general, you do not need to prepare for the thread lift. To minimise the risk of bleeding and haematomas, no alcohol should be consumed before the thread lift. In addition, medication and agents whose effects can affect blood clotting should not be taken if possible. These include Aspirin® or vitamin C preparations. We will inform you in detail about this again in an individual consultation.
What you can expect after a thread lift
The recovery time after a successful thread lift is quite minimal. There may be some visible swelling and bruising, but you can go back to work immediately if you wish.
The results should be visible immediately after thread insertion, but you may notice more in the days and weeks after thread insertion as the swelling and bruising gradually subsides.
After a thread lift, you can resume your normal routine. We will advise you not to rub your face vigorously and not to sleep on your side for the first few weeks after the procedure.
When thread lift is contraindicated?
A thread lift in Hamburg is not carried out on minors. In addition, the treatment is contraindicated if you:
- are pregnant,
- breastfeed,
- have injuries or inflammations in the facial area,
- are allergic to the substances used.
- In severely flaccid skin, the thread lift is not usually performed.
Are there any risks or side effects with thread lift?
With a thread lift, the general risks of surgery and general anaesthesia are eliminated. However, discomfort may still occur after the treatment. These are usually mild side effects such as swelling, redness, bruising, sensitivity problems or minor pain. These symptoms usually subside within three to seven days. More serious complications such as inflammation, wound healing disorders or scarring are very rare.
Thread lift aftercare and precautions
